iTouch South Africa started services with Independent News & Media in South Africa, taking a 70% equity stake in the business by 1998.

iTouch plc was incorporated in January 2000 in England and Wales as the holding company for three operating companies - South Africa, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

During the first half of 2000, iTouch plc also incorporated iTouch New Zealand and iTouch Australia, and created a 50:50 joint venture in Israel.
